2020 Key Impact Figures

In 2020, COVID-19 imposed the “minimal” service delivery status on many international nonprofit organizations, which dealt with emergencies only. Despite the pandemic, most of OPC’s field activities in Africa were implemented by teams from the Ministries of Health from our partner countries, especially those linked to the fight against NTDs. These activities took place after thorough risk assessment and mitigation analysis.

OPC is proud to share these key figures from a challenging year:

baseline trachoma prevalence survey carried out.
0
billboards created to raise awareness of infectious disease barrier gestures and disseminated in 11 endemic provinces.
0
mass drug distribution impact surveys carried out.
0
roll-out of a television spot on anti-Covid-19 barrier gestures.
0
trachoma complication cases treated.
0
radio spots on hygiene and barrier gestures broadcasted.
0
school children treated for soil-transmitted helminthiasis.
0
people treated for schistosomiasis.
0
people treated for onchocerciasis and lymphatic filariasis.
0
million people received treatment with OPC support.

OPC’s impact

OPC’s impact continues long after its project supervision ends. The ophthalmology training and knowledge shared, health systems strengthened, and the surgical centers equipped as a result of OPC’s programs continue to serve and benefit thousands of more people each year.

We are proud that beyond our direct impact, the results of our programs continue to grow sustainably under Ministries of Health ownership.
